However, his reign might not be for long since the Game of Thrones: House of the Dragon trailer revealed a war regarding his next successor. King Viserys is a kind-hearted man with a will to carry on his grandfather’s (Jaehaerys Targaryen) legacy. During the events of the trailer, he seems to be at odds with choosing his heir because he must decide if it should be his daughter, Rhaenyra, or his brother, Daemon. Many of the people in Westeros are firmly against Rhaenyra as the Queen since she is a woman, which was a taboo concept at the time. For example, Rhaenys Targaryen states, “A woman would not inherit the Iron Throne. According to the lore of GOT, Viserys was once a dragon rider due to the Targaryen’s strong connection to the mystical creatures.
